"Healing Psalms: A Conversation with God" Exceeds Expectations with Heartfelt Performances and a Powerful Message
St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – The U.S. Virgin Islands community gathered for an unforgettable evening of faith, music, and purpose at the sold-out “Healing Psalms: A Conversation with God” Gospel Jazz Benefit Concert featuring Jeannette Rhymer and Friends on March 23, 2025, at Wesley Methodist Church. This awe-inspiring event not only touched the hearts of all in attendance, but also successfully raised critical funds to support Healing Hands Worldwide’s mission of providing medical care to underserved communities.
From the opening notes to the final applause, the concert was an exquisite, soul-stirring experience that left the audience deeply moved. Jeannette Rhymer delivered a breathtaking performance, pouring her heart into every song and seamlessly blending her testimony of faith with captivating musical storytelling. Her journey of resilience, having twice battled colon cancer, resonated deeply, making her words and melodies all the more powerful.
“This evening was more than just a performance for me — it was my testimony,” shared Jeannette Rhymer. “Every note, every lyric, was a reflection of God’s grace in my life. To see the audience so engaged, to feel their love and support, was an overwhelming blessing. I hope this night reminded everyone that no matter the battles we face, faith and perseverance will always lead us through.”
“The atmosphere was electric with faith, love, and gratitude,” said Karen Nelson-Hughes, Executive Director of Healing Hands Worldwide, Inc. “It was so much more than a concert —it was a movement of hope and healing.”
Dr. Erole McLean Hobdy, founder of HHW, emphasized the importance of the evening’s mission, stating: “This event was a testament to what faith and community can accomplish together. Seeing Jeannette shine, despite her challenges, and watching the audience respond with such enthusiasm confirmed our belief that music and purpose can truly change lives.”
With a perfectly executed production, the event brought together some of the USVI’s most talented artists in an atmosphere of worship and celebration. Attendees described the experience as "mesmerizing," "uplifting," and "a night to remember." The community’s outpouring of support underscores the growing awareness of colorectal and breast cancer and the life-changing work HHW continues to do.
